Not visited this supplier as yet but did purchase several unusual and "Feature Rich" blanks from him at the last Axminster show.

All used so far have proved well worth the effort to turn.

The very nature of the wood we chose meant that they were far from perfect rounds and full of occlusions and 'difficult' areas but were well dried, the finished items have that rustic 'full of character' look that we like.

Visited this supplier on the 12 05 06. yard is situated down 500 metres of un-metalled access drive, hedge bank roadside signs to "flower farm" are not too prominent (Going south on B3176 from Ottery St Mary, drive is on right at top of hill leaving Wiggaton)

Large range of dried, semi-dried and wet blanks in stock, many in much larger sizes than seen elsewhere. Most appear to have been selected because of interesting 'features' or 'figuring' in the wood.

Extensive stocks of English grown timber in sawn (wanney edge) state in plank and slab form,  air dried or drying.  (Slabbed and sawn on site and stored under cover.)

Anyone with the ability to determine the moisture content and suitability for their needs and the facilities to process sawn slabs should find some nice pieces.

John was extremely welcoming, first stop a cup of coffee, then after determining my needs whilst describing source of blanks, took me on a tour of the stacked timber in an effort to find me some more cost effective purchases to go with the ready prepared, 'must have' blanks already selected.

Having unearthed several slabs to my liking he reduced them to car boot size after a discussion on maximising potential.

Pricing was very competitive, sufficiently so to offset most of my petrol costs at least one way compared with previous sources.
